SA’s faceless philanthropist BI Phakathi blesses stranger with R2k

Over the last two years, popular Facebook user BI Phakathi built himself a reputation as one of South Africa’s most generous citizens and change makers. Phakathi has earned the title of philanthropist after he shared numerous videos of himself helping unsuspecting strangers with much-needed things such as food and money. In different instances, he even helps them start businesses and make a success of themselves.

In a recent clip, the now dubbed “faceless philanthropist”, can be seen giving a man R2000 after testing the man’s generosity by asking him for an R2 – which the man gave without hesitation.

One can truly be considered lucky to come across a man known only as BI Phakathi.

This is because the man, who has never shown his face on social media, is well known for helping people in need.

In a recent clip, Phakathi walks up to a one legged man later established as “Nick”, and asks him for an R2 as part of a plan to establish the kind of man Nick is.

After Nick, who appears to be in need himself, gives BI the R2, BI then proceeds to give Nick at least R2000 in notes.

“You deserve it for you have come a long way, I’ll come and see you where you stay,” BI says to Nick who explained that he is actively searching for a job despite wearing a prosthetic leg which causes him pain.

As usual, the post went viral as many locals shared heartwarming messages with BI.

Sandra Whitt commented:

“I literally cried throughout this entire video, and this is what true Christianity is all about! God’s work is never gone undone or unseen an act of kindness goes a long way and many blessings for those less fortunate as well for the ones who are in a good place financially, even though they have their own struggles, but we’re all survivors! I’m feeling blessed! God’s Angels are everywhere! Amen.”
