1. Healthy food and water

Providing high-quality food and water right from the start can greatly enhance your dog’s life.

Although cheap dog foods exist, they might not suit your dog’s specific needs well.

Opting for quality dog food can significantly improve your dog’s health; your vet can recommend suitable options.

Ensure your dog has access to fresh water by refilling the water bowl daily and cleaning it regularly.

If your dog drinks the water quickly, refill the bowl more often to keep it consistently full and fresh.

2. Playtime

Even if you take your dog for two walks daily or exercise them differently, you should still play with your dog once a day.

Playing with your dog brings several advantages:

  • It strengthens the bond between you and your dog.
  • It offers mental stimulation for your dog.
  • It builds trust and affection.

Some people believe that walking is enough and skip playtime, but you should still give it a try.

You don’t need to play with your dog for a long time; just a few minutes will do.

3. Visit the vet

Being a good dog owner means taking your dog to the vet.

Dogs need regular check-ups, shots, and exams to stay happy and healthy.

These vet visits prevent your dog from getting sick and keep them healthy in the long run.

It’s also a good idea to get to know your vet well. The closer they are to you and your dog, the better advice they can give you.

This is particularly helpful for new dog owners who might not be very experienced yet.
