The Beta version of the easy-to-use site was launched earlier this week. The aim of the site is to provide simple solutions to unemployment – both secondary and primary work.

The site is targeted at helping students, unemployed individuals, secondary income seekers and even travellers find work or odd jobs.

Currently, the site focuses on work opportunities in the Western Cape, with Durban and Jo’burg to follow later this year. There’s even the suggestion that the company will branch out internationally shortly.

Started by a team of three passionate entrepreneurs, Bountly is a personal experience that allows the user to create a profile and keep a record of all transactions with other users.

In this way, a virtual bank of recommendations is created, and due to the rating system, it enables users to view users’ credibility and performance, much like the ratings on AirBnb or Uber.

Bountly’s CTO, Michael Whelehan has ten years of software engineering experience and is at the helm of the company’s innovative technical division.

“We want to give people equal opportunity, and a marketplace to create an authority in their chosen profession,” he says.

Co-founder and CMO Carly Jack, who is the creative driving force behind the company, is confident that the startup will grow steadily, twisting and turning as it navigates its way through the marketplace.

She says, “Bountly targets the grey area, the undefined and task-related work roles, of which there is an abundance in South Africa.”

The third member of the team, and CEO of the startup, Simon Telian will be drawing on his experience in Finance and Business Development.

The Swiss/German serial entrepreneur says of Bountly, “We want to create trust in the workplace, while giving our users the competitive edge.”

From getting someone to hang up your Christmas lights to hiring someone to teach you Spanish in your backyard, Bountly is an innovative solution to online recruitment.

Whelehan says, “We want Bountly to become second nature to our users, hop on, post your task / apply for one, make money, repeat!”
