Winter is in effect, after all. Or, if you enjoy spending time in the kitchen, invest in the gadget you’ve been wanting. It’s now or never, whether it’s an air fryer or a food processor.

Write a letter to yourself

People frequently focus more on the negative aspects of becoming a mom than on its benefits. Write a letter to yourself outlining your parenting strengths and your favourite aspects of being a mom.

Take yourself out on a date

Ensuring everyone has food is something you do constantly in the kitchen. Why don’t you put yourself first and go out to lunch?

The story behind Mother’s Day

On the fourth Sunday of the Christian holiday of Lent, a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages, individuals who had relocated were permitted to return and visit their home or “mother” churches and their mothers.

This was a chance for families to reconnect as it wasn’t unusual for kids to leave home to work at the time when they were as young as 10 years old.

In Britain, this became Mother’s Day. The dates of Mothering Sunday change every year, much as those of Lent.

Make the most of this day, which is observed on the second Sunday in May to honour all women who have motherly responsibilities. Mother’s Day is on Sunday the 14th of May 2023.
