The pilot launches on Tuesday 9 April at 20:00 on DStv Channel 144 and features two fearless detectives from the Spreeus Investigating Unit, Bas Koorts and Beatrice Mack.

They investigate a different phenomenon every week, from fearsome ghosts to disappearing spectrals and a boy who can predict the future, Die Spreeus will take you to the edge of the known (or unknown) and back again.

With visitors from the past and dangerous creatures from other worlds, kykNET advises against being alone on a Tuesday evening. What makes Die Spreeus unique is that it also tackles various stories from South African culture.

Brace yourself for modern retellings of the Ghost of Uniondale, the tokoloshe, CJ Langenhoven’s The ruin at Wilgerdal and other scary creatures that go bump in the night or hide under your bed.

Chris Vorster, most famously known as Ryno from 7de Laan, portrays the part of detective Bas Koorts, a shadow of man since his wife’s death. Before tragedy struck, Koorts was able to put fear into Cape flats gangs.

Sandi Schultz, from Binnelanders and Hotel, landed the role of Rosa Scheffers, a brigadier in the SAPD and patron of the Spreeus, while Monique Rockman from Nommer 37 was cast as Beatrice Mack, another member of the team.
