On a daily basis we are all exposed to a range of bacteria and germ-filled substances that threaten our hygiene. You won’t believe just how close the dirtiest things you interact with everyday might be to you.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made us all more considerate of our hygiene and observant of the amount of dirt that surrounds us. From social distancing to regularly sanitising, we’ve become a more germ-conscious generation thanks to the threat of illness around us. However, despite the new standards we’ve adopted, there are still a lot of germs around us that we don’t always pay attention to. In fact, many of them are actually closer to us than we think!

The most germ-filled objects in our day to day lives are actually closer to us than we may think, according to a report by the Daily Mail. While we are well aware of some of the obvious things that pose a threat, it’s actually the more “harmless” looking objects that pose the greatest threat. Here’s a list of items you may not have considered to be sources of germs but are actually the biggest culprits!

TOOTHBRUSH HOLDERS

Toothbrush holders, if left unattended, can be a breeding ground for bacteria and mold due to lingering moisture and toothpaste remnants. Make sure to clean yours regularly to be wary of these threats to your hygiene.

OFFICE MUGS

Not washing your office mug can spread germs among your coworkers, especially since many people use the same workspace. Everyone should clean their mugs regularly at work to stop illnesses from spreading.

CELLPHONESANOTHER HYGIENE CULPRIT!

Cellphones can get really dirty because of all the germs on them, which can make the owners and others sick. Wiping your phone often and being aware of the germs it carries can help keep everyone healthier.

If restaurants don’t clean sauce containers properly, they can have dangerous germs that make people sick. Restaurants need to follow strict hygiene rules for sauce dispensers to keep customers safe.

Trolleys at the shops were heavily targeted during the pandemic. They carry germs because many people touch them. Stores have improved at regularly cleaning the carts and and offering sanitising stations.

Believe it or not, even birthday cakes can be super spreaders! When someone blows out candles on a birthday cake can spread germs, especially if someone is sick. To keep celebrations safe, it’s a good idea to find other ways to blow out candles or use separate cupcakes for everyone.
