  • 500 grams 500 ground beef

  • ½ cup ½ bread crumbs

  • 1 teaspoon 1 Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 small 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 1 egg

  • ½ cup ½ parmesan cheese

  • ½ teaspoon ½ salt

  • ¼ teaspoon ¼ pepper

  • ¼ cup ¼ fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 2 cups 2 pasta sauce, see recipe below or use your favourite ready-made pasta sauce.

  • Pasta sauce
  • 1 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon 1 garlic

  • 1 can 1 tomato paste

  • 2 cans 2 tinned tomato

  • 1 teaspoon 1 Italian herbs

  • 2 teaspoons 2 salt

  • 1 tablespoon 1 sugar

  • 2 tablespoons 2 Worcestershire sauce

  • fresh basil

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Meatballs
  • In a small bowl, stir the bread crumbs with milk until evenly combined. Allow resting for 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, use your hands to combine the beef, onion and garlic. Season with salt and pepper, then gently stir in the bread crumb mixture, egg, parmesan cheese, and parsley until just combined. Form into golf-sized balls.
  • In a large frying pan, heat the oil. Working in batches, sear the meatballs on all sides to develop a crust.
  • Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the pan and then prepare your sauce. If you are using ready-made sauce, heat the sauce in a pan and add the meatballs.
  • Pasta sauce
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the tomatoes, salt, sugar and herbs.
  • Reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, basil, pepper and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add the meatballs to your sauce and simmer for 10 minutes or more. Serve with your favourite pasta.
