Do you remember school bake sales when moms and grandmas baked some incredible confectioneries for you to sell to everybody else. One of the most iconic ones might just be traditional koeksisters.
These fried dough braids start their journeys as doughnuts but are then soaked in sweet syrup that runs down your chin when you bit into it. They’re a “twist” on Cape Malay koeksisters but just as delicious.
