Biltong and feta cheese omelette suggestions

The onions and chilies in the recipe add layers of flavour as they’re embedded in the actual omelette, will not spill out all over the place. You can add the biltong and feta into the pan while it’s still cooking, but it will make it more difficult to close it. Use thinly sliced biltong or biltong dust in this recipe and you can also add some green peppers to the cooking onions. It’s a meaty and flavour-filled breakfast that will also provide you with loads of nutrients for the day.

Total time

  • 1 tbsp 1 butter

  • 3 3 large eggs, whisked

  • salt and black pepper to taste

  • ½ cup ½ grated cheddar cheese

  • a few slices biltong

  • crushed black pepper feta cheese

  • chives to garnish

  • 2 2 onions, peeled and sliced

  • ½ tsp ½ dried chilli

  • Add butter to a frying pan on medium heat.
  • When butter is bubbling, add the onions and chillies. Cook until translucent. Set aside and keep warm.
  • Beat the eggs lightly with a fork.
  • Melt the butter over medium-low heat.
  • Add the eggs. Allow the eggs to cook for a minute, then use a spatula to gently lift the cooked eggs from the edges of the pan. Tilt the pan to allow the uncooked parts to flow to the edge of the pan.
  • Cook for a few more seconds. Cook longer if you like it well done.
  • Fold the omelette in half. Slide it onto a plate with the help of a spatula. Garnish with cheddar cheese, followed by biltong, feta cheese, black pepper to taste and chives.
