We can’t always have bacon and eggs for breakfast, albeit because of time constraints or trying to eat less fat. Smoothies are great for a quick breakfast and you can add all of the healthy food you want to include. This banana and peanut butter smoothie also includes chia seeds which have their own great health benefits. You can also chop and change the ingredients to suit your daily breakfast, post-workout or midday snack needs.

Banana and peanut butter smoothie tips

Chia seeds are packed with fibre and healthy fats but make sure you give them a bit of a crush before adding them to the mixer. Bananas are full of potassium and magnesium which can actually help with energy and muscle performance when working out. Peanut butter also adds flavour along with its healthy fats. You can also add a scoop of protein powder or give yourself more fruits like berries which are full of anti-oxidants.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp 1 chia seeds

  • 2 tbsp 2 honey

  • 2 2 bananas (or fruit of your choice)

  • 250 ml 250 natural yoghurt

  • 500 ml 500 milk

  • 1 tbsp 1 peanut butter

  • 1 tsp 1 cinnamon

Method

  • Blend all the ingredients together. Pour in a glass or travel bottle.
