Have you ever looked at or taken a bite of your burger and thought that it needed even more cheese? We all do, all the time and now you can do it at home. These cheese-stuffed burgers are exactly what you were looking for in the title. If you’ve got a lot of people coming over, surprise them with this great party meal. It’s juicy, melty and will surely burn your mouth because you’re going to take a massive bite on your first try.

Cheese-stuffed burgers suggestions

You might think that it’s a good idea to fill the patties with as much cheese as possible, but you don’t want it to spill out. You can also make it a bit spicy with some chili spice or paprika. These burgers are also great for the braai. If you’re making them for a whole group of people, have ingredients like sliced tomato, fried and raw onions, lettuce, fried bacon, pickles and different condiments on the table and let everybody choose their on flavour adventure.

Cheese-stuffed burgers recipe

Take burger night to the next level with this stuffed burger recipe.

Ingredients

  • 800 g beef mince

  • 2 tsp garlic

  • 4 sprigs thyme, chopped

  • 1 egg, whisked

  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

  • 15 ml barbecue spice

  • pinch of salt and pepper

Method

  • In a bowl add the mince, garlic, thyme, egg, barbecue spice and salt and pepper and mix until combined.
  • Divide the mince into 16 equal portions and roll into balls.
  • Flatten the mince with the palm of your hand and lay out 8 pieces of mince on a plate. Divide the cheese equally and place it in the centre of the mince patties.
  • Cover the mince patties with the other 8 patties until all the cheese is covered.
  • Leave the burger patties to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Shallow fry the burgers in hot oil for four minutes on each side until cooked and golden.
  • Serve the patties on burger buns or if you want a low-carb meal, add the patties to a salad.
