Love hot and spicy food? This spicy hake recipe is not only mouth-watering but super easy to prepare. If you are tired of the same old fish dishes, try to blow new life into them with this recipe. The hot chilli sauce gives it a delicious flavour which will kick your taste buds to life.

Chilli sauce to complement your spicy hake

Instead of using hot sauce from a grocery store-bought bottle, this recipe guides you to prepare your own chilli sauce from scratch with original ingredients. The chilli sauce includes Kashmiri chilli powder, garlic, lemon juice, parsley, aromat and seasoning for an aromatic taste. Combined with melted butter and cream and you have a hot sauce with a creamy consistency – the perfect companion for your hake.

Ingredients

  • Hake
  • 5 pieces of hake

  • 1 teaspoon of paprika

  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder

  • ½ teaspoon jeera powder

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon lemon powder

  • ½ teaspoon dried pepper

  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley

  • ½ lemon juice

  • Sauce
  • ¼ cup cream

  • ½ cup melted butter

  • 2 tablespoons Kashmiri chilli powder

  • 1 garlic clove, chopped

  • ½ lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

  • dash of aromat

  • seasoning

Method

  • Hake
  • Mix all ingredients besides the fish in a bowl.
  • With a silicone brush, brush your fish with the spice and baste on both sides.
  • Fry in a shallow pan until the fish gets flaky. Be gentle, don’t forget to turn halfway. Fry skin side down first.
  • Sauce
  • In a small pot on medium heat add the sauce ingredients until it becomes thick. Pour over the fish when ready.
