You can never have enough recipes for teatime. Our rocky cookies recipe is another delicious addition to your teatime recipes to bring out from time to time.

These easy biscuits are not only tasty but also super easy to prepare. These rocky cookies are perfect to dip in your tea or coffee and they are also awesome for the little ones when they ask for a sweet bite.

How to prepare your rocky cookies for teatime

Prepare these cookies from a simple rough dough of self-raising flour, margarine, dried fruit, caster sugar, milk and an egg. Roll the dough into balls, pop into the oven and get ready for a mouth-watering bite.

  • 225 g 225 self-raising flour

  • 110 g 110 butter or margarine

  • 110 g 110 caster sugar

  • 110 g 110 sultanas

  • 1 1 egg beaten

  • 2 tablespoons 2 milk

  • 1 teaspoon 1 mixed spice

  • ½ teaspoon ½ cinnamon


  • Preheat the oven to 175⁰C.
  • Sift the flour into a bowl.
  • Rub in the butter or margarine until it looks like breadcrumbs.
  • Stir in the sugar and spices.
  • Add the egg and milk and stir into a dough.
  • Stir in the sultanas.
  • Grease a baking tray.
  • Using two teaspoons make a 9-12 blobs of dough – use one spoon to scoop up the dough and the other to scrape it off the spoon onto the baking tray.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
