While everyone can agree that Pretty Yende did an exceptional job with her performance at King Charles’s royal coronation on Saturday, the same cannot be said for her wardrobe choice.

The South African singer – who performed at Westminster Abbey in front of royals and distinguished guests – turned heads in a bright yellow creation.

But was it a hit or miss?

PRETTY YENDE DRESS: ALL THE DETAILS

In an Instagram post, Pretty Yende revealed all the details about her custom creation.

The haute couture gowns was created by French designer Stéphane Rolland.

“The dress is a sunny yellow silk crepe gown embellished with a gazar and organza sculpture made in the Parisian atelier of the Couturier,” read a description of the creation.

According to the designer, the dress was commissioned while Pretty was still in South Africa.

To complement the bold look, Pretty Yende wore a  Graff yellow and white diamond necklace featuring over 138 carats of diamonds. Her matching earrings contained over 35 carats of diamonds. 

Speaking to Tatler, Pretty claimed that her look was inspired by her hope of bringing “a splash of sunshine to a grey day in London.”

HIT OR MISS?

On social media, the jury was out on if the look belonged on the best or worst-dressed list.

While some felt the look was overpowering for a royal event, others claimed the singer stood out from the crowd for all the right reasons.
