Fox News presenter Laura Ingraham has been trending over an on-air blunder that went viral – and it has everything to do with hit Netlifx series You …
The series has emerged as one of the streaming service’s most popular shows – and its infamous character Joe Goldberg has achieved meme-worthy status. Actor Penn Badgley – who plays the love-to-hate serial killer – has even become besties with rapper Cardi B, who is a fan of the show.
…but one person who has never heard of the series is Laura, whose cringey comments had social media users reeling.
A clip of the Fox News presenter – who presents The Ingraham Angle show – was chatting to regular guest Raymond Arroyo, who commented on “woke storylines” in TV programming, when he referenced the Netflix show You.
Raymond stated: “I was watching an episode of You, where measles came up…”
Confusion immediately reigned when Laura misunderstood what her guest was saying.
Their conversation went something like this…
Lauren: “Wait, wait, wait…When did I mention measles?”
Raymond: “I don’t know.It was on You.”
L: “What was on me, what are you talking about?”
R: “The measles and the vaccine episode was on You”
L: “We never did a measles and vaccines..is this a joke?”
R: “It was on You”
L: “I’ve never had measles Raymond. What are you talking about, this is stupid”
R: “It was an episode of a show, Laura.”
L: “What’s it called?”
R: “You! You! It’s called You.”
L: “I’ve never done a show on measles! I give up!”
R: “It is a show called You on Netflix.”
L: “There’s a show called Laura Ingraham on Netflix … what are you talking about?”
R: “Nevermind, I’m moving on…”
While tweeps find the whole thing amusing – and slightly embarrassing – many have questioned if the exchange was staged.
One tweep posted: “Guys I hate to break this to you…but the viral YOU x @FoxNews clip was totally staged and scripted”.
Another added: “The Fox News You bit was staged in order to become a viral video”.
Others disagreed, resorting to insulting the channel and the presenter.
“So are you regular dumb? Or are you @FoxNews #LauraIngraham dumb?”, asked one tweep.
Another added: “People are saying that that Fox News clip was staged? I don’t actually believe it, I believe they are as dumb as they looked.
You actor Penn Badgely weighed in, admitting he thought the clip was “a bit” staged.
He tweeted: “Definitely a bit. His delivery is great though.
“It’s gotta be a bit. Dude is committed, he actually made me lol, but watch how he waits for her to cut him off.
