Create your own artisanal cheese board with wine pairing in SA-inspired London restaurant

Cheese, please.

Create your own artisanal chee

A restaurant with a walk-in cheese room? Yes, that is exactly what you will find at the two branches of Vivat Bacchus at Farringdon and London Bridge.

Managing Director and co-owner of the restaurants, Gerrie, says, “Our restaurants have cellars full of wine so it was a natural step to match this with an equally abundant choice of cheese. They’re perfect partners.”

The restaurants support artisan cheesemakers in the UK and abroad.

Marco, one of the resident cheese experts adds, “It’s fun keeping up to date with what goes on in the world of cheese and we change our cheeses with the seasons. We like to keep all the favourites but add in quite a few less well-known kinds of cheese, and customers have a great time coming to the cheese rooms and finding out more.”

What’s on offer

Cheese experts are on hand to take you on a tour, taste a few cheeses and create your own cheese board – with over 40 cheeses, customers are spoilt for choice.

Marco continues, “We also have a set cheese board selection to make it easy for people who don’t want to choose. These are created with cheeses that complement each other and we also advise on wines to match.”

So, if you’re a cheese lover this is definitely the place for you. What’s more, throughout July and August there’s 20% off all cheese on Fridays and Saturdays.

What else is on offer at Vivat Bacchus?

Looking for something to do in London? Vivat Bacchus also holds weekly wine tasting events and once a month these feature cheese and wine pairings at each branch. This month is a taste of France from cheesemonger Beillevaire and in August, take a tour from mountains to caves. There are five cheeses paired with matching wine at each event.
