‘The Wife’ fans upset Zikhona Sodlaka was snubbed by SAFTAs
‘The Wife’ fans are furious that talented actress Zikhona Sodlaka, who played Mandisa Zulu didn’t get nominated at this year’s SAFTAs.

Fans of actress Zikhona Sodlaka are surprised she didn’t get any SAFTA nomination for her outstanding role of Mandisa in Showmax’s The Wife.

‘THE WIFE’ STAR ZIKHONA SODLAKA DESERVED A NOMINATION’
Viewers of The Wife took to social media to react to entertainment commentor Phil Mphela’s Twitter post, who revealed that he expected actress Zikhona Sodlaka to get a SAFTA nomination.
“The Wife actors get snubbed. The controversial and popular telenovela has lost out on any acting nominations for their Season 3 at the 17th South African Film and Television Awards.”
“I expected at least a nom for Zikhona Sodlaka’s Mandisa. The season got a Best Telenovela nomination.”
Sunday World also reported that legendary actress Zikhona Sodlaka, who played the role of Mandisa, gave viewers a stellar performance from season one to three and deserved a SAFTA nomination.
“Whoever is responsible for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) must really have a personal vendetta against The Wife. I think we can all agree that The Wife actors gave us their best in their last season.
“Not even one cast member was nominated for an award. I mean, people would go crazy on Thursdays after episodes were released,” adds the publication.

2023 SAFTAS NOMINATIONS
While the talented actress Zikhona Sodlaka and none of her co-stars from The Wife didn’t receive any nominations, the telenovela received three nominations at this years’s SAFTAs.
TVSA reports that The Wife season three received a nomination for Best Achievement in Directing in a Telenovela, Best Telenovela and Most Popular Telenovela.
South Africans can watch the awards ceremony on Saturday, 30 September 2023 as a simulcast on SABC 3 (DSTV 193) and Mzansi Magic (DSTV 161) AT 19:00.
