Sonia Mbele is a prominent household name in South African. She is an iconic actor and is mainly known for her character as “Ntombi” on the local telenovela, Generations. The actress has made her mark in the contemporary South African film and television industry.

Sonia was born on 11 December 197, and several sources confirmed that the stunning 47-year-old grew up in Alberton, Johannesburg.


Mbele married her ex-husband, Attorney Leslie Sedibe, in 2006 and they divorced in 2014.

The estranged couple had two sons and a daughter, Donelle, Khamo, and Mosa Sidibe, Ubetoo reported.


Mbele started acting in high school, and was an active member of her high school theatre group, Briefly reported.

The iconic actress has been cast in numerous shows in Mzansi, and some of her previous and current jobs in the industry include:

•             Generations: She played Ntombi Khumalo from 2003-2011, TVSA shared.

•             Keeping Score: Mbele featured in the show’s first season in her role as Mmamosa Letsie.

•             Miss South Africa: The hardworking actress bagged a gig as a judge in Season 56 of the pageant show.

•             SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards: Mbele presented in the show’s sixth season.

•             Lastly, Blood and Water: Mbele starred in the Netflix drama as Lizbeth.

Mbele has a water company. She reportedly launched the water brand, Alkamax in 2021. 

In an Instagram post, she once said,

“We are Alkaline water manufacturing and distributing brand. Alkamax is the only black-owned ph 10+ purest water distributing plant in SA. Getting support from each and every one of you would be a true honour.”

Several sources online estimates Mbele’s net worth to be between R17 million to R86 million, which affords her the lavish lifestyle she prefers.
