Princess Kate, one of the most recognizable figures globally, still values moments of solitude away from the public eye.

In a report by The Mirror, it’s revealed that the princess employs a savvy “trick” to avoid unwanted attention as she leaves royal residences, allowing her to savor some precious “me time.”

According to Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown, shared in her book The Palace Papers, which details the lives of the royals, Princess Kate employs an early morning alarm strategy. Rising in the early hours, she discreetly heads to her preferred locations for moments of relaxation before the hustle and bustle of the day commences. This early departure ensures she steers clear of photographers, reporters, and potential onlookers who might recognize her. Tina Brown notes that this tactic allows the princess to “nourish her life” without the constant scrutiny.

Like most royals before her, the she has had to be inventive. However, Princess Kate’s clever approach has proven successful, enabling her to go incognito when needed. Although, like any of the royals, she hasn’t been entirely immune to occasional breaches of her privacy. One instance was her visit to a David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy in London, where her cover was unexpectedly blown.

THE PRICE FOR PRIVACY?
Since marrying Prince William in 2011, Princess Kate has been intentional about discovering ways to pursue her interests and maintain her individuality amidst royal obligations. Interestingly, William himself played a role in ensuring the couple had privacy during their early dating days. Following their meeting at St Andrews University in Scotland, the pair reportedly sought refuge in a secret home on the royals’ escape, Balmoral Estate, away from prying eyes.
