PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE BAG TWO NEW NETFLIX SHOWS

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have landed themselves two new Netflix shows. Sky News reports that one show will explore “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship.”

The series is directed by Michael Steed with executive producers Meghan and Chanel Pysnik for Archewell Productions, alongside showrunner Leah Hariton, and The Intellectual Property Corporation.

While the other will give “unprecedented access to the world of professional polo”.

“The second series offers unprecedented access to the world of professional polo, shot primarily at the US Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida. The series will pull back the curtain on the sport, known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, capturing the full story of what it takes to compete at its highest level,” according to Netflix.

The series will be produced by Boardwalk Productions. Prince Harry and Meghan serve as executive producers along with Chanel Pysnik for Archewell Productions; Andrew Fried, Sarina Roma, and Dane Lillegard for Boardwalk Pictures; and Miloš Balać and Ian Samplin.

Both shows will be released through their production company Archewell Productions. The title of the shows will be released in the upcoming months. Both shows are still in the early stages of production.

THE ‘LUCRATIVE’ NETFLIX DEAL

Prince Harry and Meghan quit their roles as senior working members of the royal family in 2020 and moved to California, where they started a new life with their family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are parents to two children – Prince Archie (4) and Princess Lilibet (2). After the pair stepped back from their royal duties, they are believed to have signed a deal with Netflix worth more than £100 million (R2.3 billion).

The pair have since released Live to Lead, Harry & Meghan and Heart of Invictus on Netflix. Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, had several shows in development.

“They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on with Brandon [Reigg]. And they actually have like a bunch of development. They have a movie in development, a [scripted] series that they’re working on. So all very early development, with a movie, a TV show and a couple of unscripted shows. But yeah, the movie’s great,” she said to Hello.

Author Carley Fortune also told The Independent that Archewell Productions would be adapting her romance novel Meet Me at the Lake for Netflix.

This comes after reports claimed that Prince Harry was in a painful place after writing about Kate Middleton in memoir Spare, amid her cancer diagnosis.
