Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles may be at risk if a law dating back to World War I is passed.

COULD PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN BE STRIPPED OFF TITLES?

According to Hindustan Times, Conservative MP Bob Seely wants to adopt laws dating back to WWI to deny German nobles their British titles. This would force the House of Commons to consider stripping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their titles. So, this will take the pair from Duke and Duchess of Sussex into Mr and Mrs.

Seely claimed that this “nuclear option” is “in support of the monarchy”. This reportedly aims to respect the decision of those who no longer want to be royals by removing “their titles and privileges.”

“I’m not a republican and support the monarchy, but after the latest instalment of the couple’s feud with the rest of the royal family, I believe that Parliament and the Privy Council should consider a nuclear option,” he said writing for Mail on Sunday.

Mark Boardman, CEO of MarkMeets, an entertainment expert said it would be “catastrophic” for Prince Harry and Meghan to lose their royal titles.

“The financial impact of losing royal titles for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be catastrophic for the Sussexes and an irreversible, significant turning point resulting in potentially huge consequences,” said Mark Boardman, CEO of MarkMeets, according to Hindustan Times.
