Must be nice to be Lil Wayne! The controversial rapper has forked out $15.4 million (that’s more than R200 million) for a mega mansion in Los Angeles. According to The New York Post, he sealed the deal on the purchase in March already, two months after former US president Donald Trump granted him a pardon.

The musician and businessman, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., can no doubt afford to splash on the new digs, mostly thanks to his $150 million dollar fortune. The mansion, located in the plush neighbourhood of Hidden Hills.

In case he needs to borrow sugar from a neighbour, he can always knock on reality TV star Kylie Jenner’s door nearby. According to the listing, the mansion boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a home theatre, chef’s kitchen with two large islands, an indoor and outdoor bar, fitness room and family room with sliding glass walls.

In addition to hitting the studio every now and then, he has evolved into quite the entrepreneur – Lil Wayne has launched a cannabis brand called GKUA Ultra Premium, which debuted last December in California.

Lil Wayne was one of 143 people Trump granted clemency to, just before leaving the White House. The 38-year-old had pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge brought against him by the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. He was arrested in 2019 for transporting a loaded handgun on his private jet from California.

The musician was facing up to 10 years in prison for the charge before he was pardoned.
