NOMZAMO MBATHA ON THE CRISIS IN AFGHANISTAN

The country of Afghanistan is currently facing a takeover by the Taliban. The Taliban is known as a Deobandi Islamist religious-political movement and military organisation regarded as terrorists. Nomzamo Mbatha has taken to Instagram to shed light on the crisis unfolding in the country as she says she is standing in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan as well as every other nation fighting for their liberation.

“It can seem easy for the world to turn a blind eye on those who’s human rights and dignity are stripped away because of continued violence and conflict,” wrote Mbatha on Instagram.

“It can seem easy for the world to turn a blind eye on those who’s human rights and dignity are stripped away because of continued violence and conflict,” she continued.

She went on to urge her 3.9 million followers to visit the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees website to see how they can educate themselves and assist.

“There is always something to be said and done. Please visit UNHCR.org or @refugees to see all the work that continues to be done, ways to educate ourselves and ways to help make a difference, ????????” she added.

CELEBRITIES LENDING A HELPING HAND

The Coming 2 America star shared the same post that American actress Angelina Jolie shared on her Instagram. Angelina Jolie created an Instagram account with the sole purpose of spreading awareness of what is happening in Afghanistan. Her first post was a letter written by a teenage Afghan girl who expressed that they have lost all their rights and freedom.

The Maleficent star broke Jennifer Aniston’s record of reaching one million Instagram followers in five hours and 16 minutes by racking up 1.7 million followers in an hour as she made her Instagram debut. Her Instagram now sits at 9.9 million followers. However, the actress does not seem to care for the “Insta” life, but rather attempts to shed light and share the stories of people in Afghanistan.

“I started working with displaced people because I believe passionately in human rights. Not out of charity, but out of a deep respect for them and their families, and all they continue to overcome, despite so much persecution, inequality and injustice,” wrote Angelina Jolie on Instagram.

Celebrity activists Ricky Gervais and Peter Egan have also been getting involved while the US military decided to capture bitter-sweet moments as the US troops are seen caring for children in Afghanistan.
