South African songstress Makhadzi has come under fire on social media after she announced that abuse-accused media personality Somizi Mhlongo will be one of the first to host her upcoming One Woman Show concert. Many social media users have called the singer out for ignoring Somizi’s estranged husband Mohale Motaung’s claims that he was both physically and emotionally abused by the Idols SA judge.

What appeared to be more shocking for many netizens is the fact that Mohale and Makhadzi have actually cultivated a close relationship and consider each other friends.

Netizens call Makhadzi out for including Somizi in her show

25-year-old Limpopo star Makhadzi is catching smoke on social media after announcing that Somizi will be hosting her One Woman Show which is set to take place in October this year.

Heading to her Facebook page, the Ghanama hitmaker excitedly shared the news with her supporters:

“Ofc course we can’t have a show without a host. I am happy to announce my first host Somizi . Kharivhoonee! Vhare tsini na spar khavhagidime vhayo renga makhuvha stadium 01 October . RIKHOYO KWAMA!” wrote Makhadzi.

Netizens are baffled

The post was not well received by certain social media users who accused her of turning a blind eye to Mohale’s claims against Somizi.

“Makhadzi’s ONE WOMAN SHOW will be hosted by Somizi???? Hayi Makhadzi has no shame” wrote Twitter user @Nampree.

Another Tweep, @furmom added:

“The thing is we live in a society that believes in separating themselves from other’s situations. We look at abuse as one of those things we wont take sides on in our own families. What more strangers?”

Others also brought up the fact Mohale and Makhadzi are literally friends.

Makhadzi and Somizi are yet to respond to the backlash.
