The TV personality is the host of BBC’s Lifestyle TV show, ‘Homegrown Tastes South Africa’ which celebrates local food and farmers.

‘Homegrown Tastes South Africa’ TV host, Lorna Maseko

Chef and TV personality, Lorna Maseko, has scored a major TV show titled, Homegrown Tastes South Africa, which will air on BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174) from 2022.  

Maseko will celebrate Mzansi’s farmers, highlight Mzansi’s favourite dishes and meet a feast of local South African celebrities in her new TV show.

Ziyanda Ngcaba who is the managing director of Rapid Blue said the show will provide an inspirational look into South Africa’s cuisine in a way that’s never been done.   

“We were thrilled to turn Lorna’s idea into TV from the moment she approached us and told us about her love for good food and global experiences with tastes.”    

Ngcaba further added that the show will celebrate everything that’s grown in our local soil, the people and communities that invest their lives creating the best produce, from the City of Gold to Dullstroom, to the breathtaking Winelands and fishing fleets of the Western Cape.  

Producers of the show told the People’s Paper that the show will follow Maseko across the country as she trades her stilettos for practical footwear. 


Maseko says she wants South Africans to be proud of who they are and enjoy the stories behind their food.   

“We have some of the most inspiring chefs who are respected globally, and I know this is the content South Africans are hungry for.”

“We have started creating magic, and I can’t wait for BBC Lifestyle audiences to see the results.”  

Channel 24 has reported that filming for Homegrown Tastes South Africa’s 10-part series has begun and that the show will be part of BBC Lifestyle’s (DStv channel 174) local line-up in 2022.  

Rapid Blue also produces Come Dine with Me South Africa which returned for the seventh season and currently airs on BBC Lifestyle Wednesdays at 20:00.

The production company also told the publication that the show is the perfect fit for BBC Lifestyle and they’re excited for audiences of all ages to tune in next year.
