Springboks star Vincent Koch’s age was revealed as he celebrated his birthday on 13 March.

Vincent Koch had been one of the most important players for the Springboks in the past decade. He played a vital role in the Springboks’ quest to claim their last two Rugby World Cups.

With such a contribution to the Springboks over time, he had won fans’ hearts, and they loved to see him. Indeed, there must have been a time when Vincent Koch would hang his boots as he grew up.

The talented rugby star was born on 13 March 1990 and celebrated his 34th birthday this year. Vincent was born in Empangeni in South Africa, where he grew up, showing his love for rugby.

According to Wikipedia, he attended Grantham Park Primary School before studying his secondary at Huguenot High School. All this time, he had been a promising rugby player, playing for Boland Cavaliers and Blue Bulls for his youth career.

He later graduated, enrolled at the University of Pretoria, and joined the Blue Bulls senior team in 2012. After showing his quality at Ble Bulls in 12 appearances, he attracted interest from Pumas and signed in the same year.

Since then, he has played for several rugby giants like the Stormers and Saracens.

In 2027, the veteran Springboks star will be 37 years old when the next Rugby World Cup will be played.

Indeed, only a few players have been playing at such a top level when approaching their forties. However, a few players have shown that it is possible to be playing at such a top level despite being around 37.

Among them are Vincent’s fellow Springboks, Deon Fourie and Duane Vermeulen, who played the 2023 RWC at 36 and 37. According to Rugby World, other players like Diego Ormaecare, the oldest to have played an RWC game at 40 years old.
