LOVE FOR RUGBY AND SOCCER TOO

While Herschelle Gibbs was known as a record-breaking batsman, unbeknownst to many, he was actually a talented rugby player too.

During his school days was drafted into the first-team rugby squads and would go on to play in the 1992 Craven Week final for Western Province against the Free State at Loftus in Pretoria.

Gibbs played alongside players like Robbie Fleck, Selborne Boome, Dave von Hoesslin, and  Percy Montgomery, who would all go on to become Springboks.

Speaking to SA Cricketer Mag, Gibbs revealed that rugby was actually his first choice in sports. He said: “If it were up to me, rugby would have been my choice. Best team sport, I must admit”.

According to IOL, Herschelle could’ve gone pro at soccer too, after he played for Rygersdal FC as a youngster, and later had the opportunity to trial for Premier League club Arsenal.

WEDDING NEXT?

Meanwhile, Herschelle Gibbs and his fiancee are likely planning their wedding celebration after getting engaged last year.

A year earlier, Herschelle and Dana went public with their romance. “I’m one lucky guy, that’s for certain,” Herschelle said of his Hungarian model bae.
