Award-winning singer Tyla Seethal had her South African fans impressed with her “sweet” Grammy award acceptance speech in Los Angeles on Sunday, 4 February.

HALALA: SOUTH AFRICANS ON TYLA’S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH AT GRAMMY

The 22-year-old took over social media with her hypnotic and seductive summer anthem, Water. Tyla’s hit song made it to the top five in dozens of countries, and ended 2023 as the most-streamed Afrobeats song on Spotify, BBC reported.

The sensational South African-born singer attended the Grammys at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards premiere ceremony at the Peacock Theater in the United States on Sunday. She walked away with a Grammy in the category for Best African Music Performance.

She had her South African fans gushing over her after hearing what she had to say in her acceptance speech.

“What? Oh my gosh, guys, this is crazy! I never thought I’d say I won a Grammy at 22 years old,” Tyla said on stage during her acceptance speech.

“If you don’t know me, my name is Tyla and I’m from South Africa. Last year God decided to change my whole life. Thank you so much to God, to my team, my family,” she continued.

“I know my mum is crying somewhere in here. Thank you to The Recording Academy for this category. It’s so important. I know I’m forgetting some things, but I won a Grammy!” the award-winning singer added before walking off stage.
