South Africans took to social media on Sunday, 21 April to pay tribute to comedian and DJ Peter ‘Mashata’ Mabuse.

Celebrities and fans of Peter “Mashata” Mabuse took to social media to pay tribute after police confirmed he was murdered in the early hours of Sunday.

MZANSI MOURNS DJ MASHATA

The Pretoria-based DJ and comedian Peter Mashata Mabuse was shot and killed in a hail of bullets this morning.

The SABC reports that Mashata was travelling with another occupant when unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.

Mashata, who was a Mamelodi Sundowns supporter was traveling near Soshanguve TUT campus when the vehicle he was travelling in got shot.

South Africans and friends of the comedian took to social media to pay tribute to the DJ.

Metro FM’s radio personality @PaulMtirara wrote: “This can’t be! This is not what I could have ever imagined… why! how could this have ever happened this great individual! RIPSIR #mashata.”

He also pleaded for a massive event for Peter and that the money made from the event should be donated to his family.

POLICE CONFIRM PETER MABUSE’S DEATH

TshisaLIVE reports that police on Sunday confirmed the comedian and DJ Peter “Mashata” Mabuse was gunned down in Soshanguve.

Gauteng police spokesperson Col Noxolo Kweza says: “The shooting involved two men aged 46 and 45 years during the early hours of today (Sunday). One victim died in hospital while the other was injured.”

“The two victims were driving near TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) in Soshanguve when shots were fired at their vehicle. The suspects fled and police are following several leads.”
