In a statement by the channel on Friday, 3 November, the channel said it would not go into detail about reasons for terminating its relationship with Khumalo.

“Moja Love TV Channels has terminated its relationship with Mr Xolani Khumalo, presenter of one of the Channel’s leading shows, Sizok’thola. The channel will not be commenting on any matters relating to Mr Khumalo at this stage,” the statement reads.

Following the statement, Khumalo hit back in a state Mt through his foundation saying he found out through the media that Moja Love had dumped him

“Xolani Khumalo and the foundation was under the impression that negotiations were ongoing with both the company and the channel. Regrettably, Xolani Khumalo had been unable to contact the company’s representatives for any comments or further discussions, ” he said.

Moja Love released yet another statement, this time, explaining why it cut ties with Khumalo.

“The channel elected not to continue with Mr Khumalo after raising concerns and questioning him about his knowledge and involvement in the unlawful incidents that led to the possible contamination of crime scenes, failed prosecutions of known drug lords and unfortunate tragedies that followed the filming of certain episodes.

“The channel also demanded answers regarding the identities of the beneficiaries of his foundation – the Xolani Khumalo Foundation, which he launched off the back of Sizok’thola’s success despite the blatant conflict of interest it created between him and the show,” read a statement by the channel.

The decision comes after the Sizok’thola host and his crew landed in hot water after an interrogation led to an alleged drug dealer’s death in July.

The man, later identified as Robert “Kicks” Varrie, had been the subject of a drug bust in Katlehong on 19 July, which was attended by the Sizok’thola crew.

On 19 October, he made his second appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court where the matter was postponed to 21 November pending the Director of Public Prosecution’s decision on whether it should be transfered to a High Court for trial, EWN reported at the time.
