Springboks captain Siya Kolisi has poked fun at himself after he was accused of being overweight, losing focus, and being “anonymous” by Racing 92 boss Jacky Lorenzetti.

The rugby club boss shared the harsh words in comments made to the French publication Midi Olympique.

Bok coach Rassie Erasmus has since condemned the comments.

SIYA KOLISI JOKES ABOUT BEING ‘FAT AND TRANSPARENT’

On his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, 3 July, Siya Kolisi laughed off criticism of himself.

He reposted a Story by Tatjana Schoenmaker – who is married to his wife Rachel Kolisi’s brother Joel Smith – about the fat-shaming comments.

Tatjana posted a picture of herself playing the board game 30 Seconds, in which she was dealt a card with Siya’s name on it.

“How do I explain this one. Fat and transparent?”, read the caption.

Siya reposted the image before swiftly deleting it.

Last month, the 33-year-old confessed to having put on weight while nursing two separate injuries on his right ankle and right hand.

He told French media: “The food is amazing here. That’s why I gained too much weight when I got here,” Kolisi said.

“I gained five kilograms. I remember getting to the gym, and one of the physios said: ‘You look like ****.’

“It’s why I had to cut down on the food.”

RASSIE ERASMUS BACKS SPRINGBOKS CAPTAIN

Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus has defended Siya Kolisi against the comments made by his Racing 92 boss.

In a media briefing last week, the  Springboks coach confirmed that Siya would retain captaincy in the upcoming Castle Lager Incoming Series, which kicks off this weekend.

The South African squad will take on one of their biggest rivals  – Ireland – on 6 July and 13 July at Loftus Versfeld and the Hollywoodbets Kings Park, respectively.

Rassie told reporters: “Siya will be captain, Siya will play six flank, Siya is fit and has no injury.”

The Bok captain cheekily added: “Siya is NOT fat and NOT transparent.”

ANOTHER SA PLAYER JOINS RACING 92

While Springbok Trevor Nkayane has confirmed his exit from Racing 92 at the end of this season, fellow South African rugby player Hakjivah Dayimani has announced his intention to join the French club next season.

The former Stormers player will join Siya Kolisi, who has signed a contract until 2026.
