‘I’ve got you’: Nandipha’s brother on confronting Thabo Bester

Nandipha Magudumana’s Nkosinathi “Nathi” Sekeleni has spoken out about his quest to unmask the real Thabo Bester – also known as the “Facebook rapist” – whose crime spree lasted over a decade.

In the first installment of Showmax’s Tracking Thabo Bester, the celebrity doctor’s older sibling shared his suspicions about meeting the convicted rapist, murderer, and fraudster, who masqueraded as a businessman based in New York.

At the time, Bester had introduced himself by his alias TK Nkwana. 

Bester and Nandipha are currently awaiting their pre-trial in the Free State Court. Along with seven others, the duo are facing charges of assisting Bester’s prison escape, fraud, corruption, and violating multiple bodies.

In 2021, Nathi Sekeleni outed his sister for dating Thabo Bester, dubbed the “Facebook Rapist.”  His sibling would later sue him for defamation of character.

The post would only receive attention a year later amid allegations Nandipha Magudumana had co-inspired to help Bester escape from his cell in the Mangaung Correctional Centre

At the time, Bester was serving a life sentence for rape and murder.

Backtracking, Nathi claimed that Nandipha had introduced Bester to their family a few years earlier as her mentor. The celebrity skin doctor claimed the smooth-talking man was a businessman based in New York.

However, Nathi reflected on several red flags encounters with “TK Nkwana,” who had invested in Nandipha’s property investment company, Arum Holdings.

He said: “It started getting weird. He insisted on watching her while she slept… I saw this is a nutcase.”

Nathi added that Bester’s short temper, lack of industry knowledge, and stronghold over his sister were concerning.

“Why would you call your business partner babe or baby? You are married”.

He also had suspicions of Bester, who contacted Nandipha – via video calls.

“He was also always against a wall or lying in bed. New York City is a loud city…but there is always someone shouting in the background in our local vernac.”

He continued: [When I started asking questions] I would become an irritating person to them. They would avoid my calls. I became suspicious.”

“I made it my goal to find out who TK Nkwana is.”

Nathi later googled the term “Facebook Rapist’ and was shocked at what he found out.

He said: “It’s not TK Nkwana, and he does not live in New York. This guy is doing a life sentence in Bloemfontein.

“I called him and said ‘Hello Thabo Bester.  I’ve got you and know who you are”.

Nathi later contacted GroundUp with information on his sister and Thabo Bester. He also claimed that after his confrontation, Bester threatened to “shoot me in the head” and hired men to attack his family.

THAT FACEBOOK POST

In a Facebook post in 2021, Nathi Sekeleni outed both his sister, Nandipha Magudumana, and Thabo Bester.

He shared: “Time to name and shame. Don’t be fooled by her looks and charm. Very evil this girl, Dr Nandipha Sekeleni Magudumana. 

“She is in daily contact with this monster by the name of THABO BESTER, once dubbed the FACEBOOK RAPIST doing a life sentence. She even exposes her two little daughters to this monster. 

“In the outside world, he goes by the name TK Nkwana.”

Nathi then accused both of fraud and money laundering through their various businesses and events.

“She has really dug herself into a hole. For a married woman, having an affair with such a lowlife as this, she is a shame to the Sekeleni family. With this country fighting GBV and corruption, we still have monsters like this operating on the outside while in prison.

“I have evidence in the form of recorded telephone calls.”

THABO BESTER AND NANDIPHA THREATEN TO SUE SHOWMAX

Meanwhile, Thabo Bester and Nandipha Magudumana have applied for an interdict to stop Showmax streaming Tracking Thabo Bester.

The matter is currently being heard in the Johannesburg high court, reports TimesLive.
