Former Kaizer Chiefs talisman Khama Billiat has joined Zimbabwean outfit Yadah FC on a one-year deal. Khama Billiat hogged headlines after his nasty fallout with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in 2023.

In the backdrop of his dramatic exit, he failed to secure a move within the DStv Premier League. Three teams reportedly could not sign him, forcing him to turn to Zimbabwean club offers.

KHAMA BILLIAT JOINS YADAH FC

Khama Billiat’s new contract makes him the highest-paid star in the Castle Lager Premier League with a base salary of $5 000, which amounts to R95 000. Harare giants Dynamos have it that they lost the race of Billiat because Yadah FC gave him hard cash.

However, the team is yet to confirm the news. PHD Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya is the club owner, and Better Brands sponsor the team. Gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya, a Member of Parliament for Zanu PF, owns Better Brands.

Undoubtedly, the DStv Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in Africa. Over the years, it has been applauded for its dominance in continental football, with Mamelodi Sundowns’ success making headlines in recent years.

KAIZER CHIEFS OFFER

What was Kaizer Chiefs’ offer to Khama Billiat? However, the DStv Premier League’s enormous success often translates to big salaries. At Kaizer Chiefs Khama Billiat was reportedly earning R800 000. Confirmed reports have it that Kaizer Chiefs tabled him a new contract with a 60% salary cut, which he couldn’t sign.

The pay cut would have seen Khama Billiat earning around R450 000 monthly plus bonuses and add-ons at Kaizer Chiefs. However, he turned down the offer.

Close sources to the star have it that this might be his last dance. Reports have it that the former Kaizer Chiefs star is considering hanging his boots at the end of the one-year deal. However, his camp is yet to confirm the news.
