LERATO KGANYAGO: ‘PETRIFIED OF FALLING PREGNANT’

On Wednesday, 21 February, Lerato Kganyago shared news of another miscarriage.

She shared in an Instagram Story: “This was the most happiest but most painful part of this Month of Love”.

Over the years, Lerato has battled several health challenges, including fibroids and fertility issues.  Despite the pain and discomfort, Lerato chose not to remove the growths as this would leave her unable to have children.

LKG has documented her pregnancies and miscarriages she experienced in 2013, 1015, 2017, 2021, and now 2014.

Naturally, the experiences left her traumatised about trying again.

She told Gracia of her conflict: “I don’t think I want to be a mother‚ now that it’s happened. Every time I think about having a child‚ I’m petrified of falling pregnant and going through it all again”.

WHAT ARE UTERINE FIBROIDS?

Fibroids are abnormal growths consisting of tissue or muscle that develop on the uterus walls.

Like Lerato Kganyago has mentioned before, the growths are often painful and cause bloating.

Other symptoms include prolonged periods, heaving, bleeding, and pelvic pain.

According to fibroid.com, the size and location of fibroids can make pregnancies challenging to carry to term.
