Lwa Ndlunkulu revealed her past struggles with homelessness, emphasising her determination to turn her dream into reality.

Singer Lwa Ndlunkulu, hailed as the first lady of Inkabi Records, has emerged as a shining star in the music industry, captivating audiences with her powerful voice and heartfelt lyrics. However, her journey to success was far from easy, as she recently revealed her past struggles with homelessness during an interview with Tbo Touch on Metro FM’s Touch Down.

Lwa Ndlunkulu’s Move To Johannesburg

Lwa Ndlunkulu’s story is one of resilience and determination. In 2020, she made the bold decision to move to Johannesburg to pursue her music career, leaving behind her hometown of Hluhluwe in KwaZulu-Natal. Despite facing numerous challenges, Lwa remained steadfast in her pursuit of her dreams.

During her time in Johannesburg, Ndlunkulu found herself in dire circumstances, struggling to make ends meet. She took on odd jobs, including working as a waitress at a local restaurant in the bustling CBD. However, her passion for music never wavered, and she seized every opportunity to showcase her talent.

During the interview, Lwa revealed that she used to sing at night in the restaurant to attract customers. She explained that she had a dream and was determined to make it a reality.

From Homelessness to Studio Sanctuary

Despite facing homelessness, she found solace in music, seeking refuge in Big Zulu’s studio for ten months without his knowledge. Lwa’s resilience and perseverance eventually paid off. She continued to work tirelessly, using the studio as a sanctuary to record her music. Her dedication and talent caught the attention of industry insiders, leading to her breakthrough as a chart-topping artist.

Reflecting on her journey, she expressed her fears and insecurities about returning to KwaZulu-Natal without achieving her goals.

“I was scared to go back to KZN because I didn’t want to appear as a failure,” she admitted. “I wanted to go back after having at least one of my songs played on TV.”

Despite the challenges she faced, Lwa’s determination propelled her forward. She purchased her car last year, a testament to her hard work and perseverance.
