A South African travel agent nicknamed the holiday swindler has been issued a warrant of arrest after scamming South African holidaymakers.

A man by the name of Francois Swart is on the run as police look to apprehend him for one of the most advanced travel scams we’ve seen all year. At the heart of the issue lies a group of disgruntled would-be travellers who will now have to make new plans and find ways to recoup hundreds of thousands of rands following Swart’s elaborate scheme.

HOW THE HOLIDAY SWINDLER SCAMMED THOUSANDS OF RANDS!

Francois Swart, AKA the Holiday Swindler, is said to have swindled hundreds of thousands of rands from unwitting holidaymakers. The now-bogus travel agent was operating an agency known as Priority Escapes in Gauteng where would-be travellers were under the impression that they were booking luxury trips. However, the agent has now disappeared without a trace.

Confirming that a case had been opened against the Holiday Swindler, Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said to IOL, “Swart is alleged to have defrauded many would-be holidaymakers of hundreds of thousands of rands. According to the information available at this stage, a case of fraud was opened at the Modimolle police station in August. The complainant alleged that two companies were defrauded of more than R130,000 by Priority Escapes.”

HOLIDAYMAKERS COMPLAIN

Many holidaymakers took to authorities to complain about Swart, the Holiday Swindler’s silence after they paid large amounts for their holidays. Mashaba continued to appeal to the public to come forward with any information they may have.

Mashaba revealed how the Holiday Swindler operated when he added, “The misrepresentation was furthered when the suspect issued documents purporting that the holiday was arranged and paid in full. It has since been confirmed that the documents the complainants received are false.”
