‘Generations’ star Lehasa Moloi: ‘I struggled with alcohol abuse’

‘I struggled with drug abuse and alcohol abuse in the industry’, ‘Generations’ star Lehasa Moloi opens up about his life journey.

Actor Lehasa Moloi who’s appeared on Isidingo, Generations: The Legacy says he struggled with drug abuse for the longest time.

The former Uzalo and Generations: The Legacy actor Lehasa Moloi reveals to TshisaLIVE that he’s inspired to help others.

“I never want someone to suffer from something I’ve already overcome. I had to find someone to pull me out of that darkness. I’m really inspired to help others, especially men in this country.”

“I struggled with drug abuse for the longest time, alcohol abuse in the industry. I have family members who struggle with the same thing, so for me it became a labour of love to give people the freedom that I feel right now.”

The publication adds that Moloi, together with his wife Cleo are set to launch a podcast on YouTube in February.

Moloi adds that he and his wife will be interviewing each other in the first three episodes, getting that story out as a married couple, as a couple in the industry.

The seasoned actor stated in a 2023 interview he was thrilled to have joined Generations: The Legacy as serial killer, Winston.

He added that he grew up watching the soapie and has been wanting to be part of the cast since he started acting.   

“I grew up watching Generations.”

“It’s partly where I caught the acting bug, so this is a huge honour and privilege,” he says.

“Other languages, except isiZulu, isiXhosa, English, and Afrikaans, are barely given a chance on TV these days.”

“Artists who do not speak the ‘profitable’ languages are sidelined.”
