Lerato Chabangu is trending after his photos with DJ Karri made rounds on the internet. The former Mamelodi Sundowns has been making all sorts of headlines against the backdrop of his ‘I Blew It’ episode.
The Tembisa-born footballer opened up about his fall from glory and current woes.
LERATO CHABANGU’S FALL FROM GLORY
During his illustrious career, Lerato Chabangu was among the highest-paid players in the DStv Premier League. He had the opportunity to star for big teams, including Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.
Against the backdrop of his newfound fame, he lost it all. In one of his interviews, he made it known that he splurged millions on his life of glitz and glamour, from expensive cars to women.
“I blew all my money on useless things because I was always guaranteed a salary the following month. I used to afford expensive things. When the Golf V came out, I bought it without thinking twice. And as you know, women will always be there, but my main problem was booze,” said Lerato Chabangu in one of his interviews.
CALLS FOR HELP
Last year, Lerato Chabangu said he was down and out and needed help. He said, “I need help. I have lost everything. I’m now a laughing stock.” Against his call, some fellow footballers reached out to the star.
Kaizer Chiefs legend Junior Khanye visited Chabangu and shared some lighter moments. However, Mzansi was quick to take a swipe at the Kaizer Chiefs legend for clout chasing after he shared their photos.
DJ KARRI VISITS LERATO CHABANGU
Celebrated DJ and influencer DJ Karri is the latest celebrity to reach out to the star against the backdrop of his recent ‘I Blew It’ episode. Taking to Instagram, DJ Karri shared photos and videos with Lerato Chabangu.
DJ Karri captioned the post, “Today I visited mfethu Lerato Chabangu. The truth of life is that we all make mistakes, and everyone deserves a chance.”
Chabangu was all smiles during their conversations. The now-viral videos and photos have gained thousands of comments and reactions since they dropped on the internet.
DONATIONS AND ASSISTANCE
Against the post, fans urged the DJ to open a foundation where his followers and football fans can make some donations. However, in recent months, DJ Karri has been reaching out to several celebrities struggling to make ends meet.
He recently reached out to DJ Mujava and famous street dweller Alostro. The two are currently in rehab and getting much-needed help. However, little is known about Lerato Chabangu’s situation.
