The Come Duze challenge – made famous by ANC supporters – is the latest dance challenge to take over TikTok. But that hasn’t stopped the wife of EFF leader Carl Niehaus from joining in.

Noluthando Mduli – who is 30 years younger than her political husband – has one her own spin on the dance, wearing the party’s red regalia.

The 64-year-old former military veteran leader set tongues wagging when he married his model spouse in 2022. The young woman is his fourth wife.

CARL NIEHAUS’S WIFE PERFORMS DANCE CHALLENGE IN EFF KIT

In one of his latest tweets, Carl Niehaus poked fun at his former party, the ANC.

In the video post, his wife Noluthando – wearing a red EFF shirt – performs the popular Come Duze dance challenge.

He tweeted: “My wife is doing the Come Duze challenge in our EFF regalia. Lol, now the ANC people are angry as if they own the challenge”.

According to Bona, the challenge kicked off after a video went viral of an unidentified man wearing an ANC shirt dancing to Vetkuk, Mahoota, and DJ Maporhisa’s song Bula Nthweo.

The trend was then adopted by youth or “Ama2000’s,” who performed the dance challenge wearing fashionable looks in the party’s yellow, black, and green colours.

DITCHING ANC FOR THE EFF

Late last year, Carl Niehaus announced that he had ditched his newly-formed party Areta, which he began in 2022. This, after he was expelled from the ANC.

In a media briefing, the former ANC Military Veterans leader revealed his motivation to join the EFF in his quest to contest the ruling party.

He said: “Areta has made the forging of a united progressive left front to save our country a pillar of its work since it was formed on the 23rd of February 2023.

“This announcement is a significant step in achieving that objective, and reshaping the South African political landscape in order to replace the neo-liberal right-wing destruction of our country with a united progressive government dedicated to the implementation of radical transformation”.

ANC REGALIA IN HOT DEMAND

Meanwhile, ANC regalia has been popping up in various Instagram and Facebook boutiques.

.According to one merchandiser, a permit must be obtained from the ruling party, which costs R5000. To sell at official events, a further application fee of R2000 is required.

Portia Nyawose told the Sowetan that the Progressive Business Forum (PBF) of the ANC gives all registered merchandisers the approved logos, images, and colours they can print on the regalia they will be selling at events.  Alternatively, garments can be made from materials sold by fabric shops.

“People love the T-shirts and caps. These are the clothing items which are the most sold,’’ she said.

The PBF is a programme mandated to promote and enhance liaison between the government, the ANC, and business.
