The EFF has confirmed that they helped pay over R100 000 in arrears for the late singer Zahara’s home. But did Kaizer Chiefs also dig deep to fund their biggest celebrity supporter?
Earlier this week, the entertainer – real name Bulelwa Mkutukana – died after a long battle with liver complications. She was just 36 years old.

DID KAIZER CHIEFS HELP PAY ZAHARA’S HOME LOAN?
Like her allegations that TS Records withheld “millions” in royalties from her, Zahara’s financial woes were no secret.
Like many entertainers, the award-winning singer was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. This saw her default on her almost R2 million home loan for her Roodepoort house.

Speaking to TshisaLive last year, Zahara confirmed that she was on the verge of losing her home after missing several installments.
According to the publication, the star was given a “grace period” to raise the money.
She said: “It’s all true. I went to Nedbank, and they gave me more days.”
Zahara also appealed to Kaizer Chiefs – her favourite PSL club – to assist her by sponsoring a concert for her to raise funds to save her home.
According to IOL, she said: “I want to approach Kaizer Chiefs to help me. I promise to do great. I just want to have a concert, not just for me but my fans and family too”.

It’s unclear if Amakhosi did eventually assist the star. However, the singer confirmed that donations from the public and a mystery businessman did help her pay off her debt.
EFF STEPS IN
Meanwhile, the EFF confirmed that they were, in fact, the mystery donor – pledging a whopping R100 000 to the singer amid her financial struggles
EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo told Sunday World: “We are not in the business of boasting about the assistance we have given to our people, but we can confirm that we have helped Zahara because she was very close to our hearts”.
