Springboks and Proteas fans: ‘Captain Kolisi is everything Bavuma isn’t’

‘The captaincy bar set by Siya Kolisi is literally and figuratively too high for Temba Bavuma,’ said Proteas and Springboks’ fans.

‘TEMBA BAVUMA SHOULD STOP PRETENDING HE’S SIYA KOLISI’

The Proteas captain Bavuma came under fire this week when he revealed at a media briefing that he is not someone that will answer to calls from people on Twitter or Facebook.

Springboks and Proteas fan @Dick_Muller revealed on X: “As a capable sportsman and national team captain, @SiyaKolisi is everything which our cricket captain is not.”

While @CindyPoluta compared the Proteas and Springboks teams and tweeted: “I remember Cheslin Kolbe not playing at the Rugby World Cup semifinal in 2019, because he missed training on the Monday before the match. Team rule: if you miss Monday, you miss the match. If a player is not 100% match fit – he lets the whole team down.”

This comes after Bavuma admitted he wasn’t “100% fit” when he faced Australia in the semifinals in the Cricket World Cup and Proteas coach, Rob Walter defended him.

PROTEAS AND SPRINGBOKS’ FANS COMPARE THE CAPTAIN’S

@javubaloyi: “A frank discussion is needed on the stubbornness of Temba Bavuma, which might have a ripple effect on others. We also need to discuss the inclusivity question. If it worked with Siya Kolisi, it does mean it shall work everywhere. Temba forced the hand of the coach.”

@RosH2207: “Hang your head in shame @TembaBavuma. Stop pretending you’re Siya Kolisi. You’ve let your team down! Right from the onset of the day has to have an effect on the rest of the team and only leads to more pressure. Feel really sorry for Reeza.”

@Tumelo254: “Can someone Please tell Temba Bavuma that he will never be Siya Kolisi. Why is he so selfish?”

@ilse_lamoer: “Reeza was there!! Ready and in form!!! Why not play him?? I was so disappointed that I couldn’t even watch the whole match. I literally went to sleep. I’ve been watching cricket my entire life. I was literally born while the WC was on. I love this sport so much. Heartbroken.”
