Walks out today! Where’s Oscar Pistorius staying while on parole?

Disgraced Paralympic star, Oscar Pistorius will walk out of jail today, Friday, 5 January — this comes after he was granted parole on 24 November 2023, following killing his girlfriend at the time, model, Reeva Steenkamp.

OSCAR PISTORIUS’ PAROLE: WHERE WILL HE STAY?

Oscar Pistorius will be living under strict conditions at a family home in Pretoria, ABC News reported. He is expected to stay at his uncle Arnold’s mega-million rand mansion in the upscale suburb of Waterkloof. He is said to have lived there during his dramatic murder trial from 2015 – 2016. Pistorius was granted parole on 24 November 2023 and is set to leave the Atteridgeville Correctional Centre in Pretoria after being approved for parole on his second application, the publication reported.

On Valentine’s Day, 2013, the former double-amputee Olympic runner killed Reeva Steenkamp four times by shooting her through a closed bathroom door in their home and claimed he thought it was a burglar. He was sentenced to 13 years and five months behind bars. He has only served half of his sentence.

Although he will be out of jail, Pistorius is still expected to live under strict conditions where he will be monitored by officials. The 37-year-old disgraced Blade Runner will live under correctional supervision until his sentence expires in December 2029.

The Department of Corrections said that Oscar Pistorius will be constantly monitored by parole officials for the next five years until his sentence expires, Time Magazine reported.

“Parole does not mean the end of the sentence. It is still part of the sentence. It only means the inmate will complete the sentence outside a correctional facility,” the Department of Corrections spokesman, Singabakho Nxumalo was quoted as saying.

Some of Oscar Pistorius’ parole conditions are stated below:

• He is banned from doing media interviews/talking to the press.
• He will not be allowed to leave the area of Pretoria for the duration of his parole.
• The disgraced Paralympic star will also not be allowed to drink alcohol.
• Pistorius will also be required to attend a program to deal with anger issues as well as another program on violence against women.
• He will have to perform community service.
