Springbok Manie Libbok has won the praise from Stormers supporters

He may have received much unwarranted criticism during the Rugby World Cup, Springbok Manie Libbok remains a hero for Stormers fans.

The famous flyhalf recently returned to play at his club, where he contributed to their victorious 31-7 URC clash against Zebre over the weekend.

The number 10 received a warm reception from supporters in the crowd.

MANIE LIBBOK GETS HERO’S WELCOME

In clips posted on social media, Stormers fans were heard cheering on Manie Libbok during the game, which took place at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.

Libbok was touched by the gesture from supporters, who are fondly nicknamed the “Faithful.”

He said post-match: “Returning to the number 10 jersey was really exciting and special as always, especially with the lively Stellenbosch crowd cheering us on”.

“The support from the Faithful is something special, and I’m really excited to be back and contribute to the team’s success.”

“The Faithful never disappoint,” he added in a touching Facebook post.

Libbok played alongside fellow Rugby World Cup-winning Springboks Damian Willemse, Deon Fourie, and Frans Malherbe during the game.

STORMERS VS LEICESTER TIGERS

Meanwhile, Manie Libbok and another Springbok – Handre Pollard – will play for opposing teams when their clubs, Stormers and Leicester Tigers, respectively, face off this weekend.

The South African and UK clubs will play for the Champions Cup on Sunday, 10 December. The game will take place on Leicester’s home ground at the Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium.
