‘Stand like a statue!’: Cyril scolds crew after national address [watch]

Someone’s in trouble! President Cyril Ramaphosa was heard chastising a TV crew member after his public holiday address on Monday.

Cyril Ramaphosa has been caught on camera scolding part of his TV crew after delivering his national address on the Springboks victory and public holiday on Monday evening.

The embarrassing moment was heard via audio after the livestream did not cut off as intended.

In a clip that had social media users in hysterics, President Cyril Ramaphosa was heard chastising a member of the TV crew.

He said: “Now, you kept on moving and disturbing me. When you stand there, you must be a statue.

Cyril seemingly called out the person by their name. He continued: “You were dancing actually.”

WHY 15 DECEMBER?

Meanwhile, social media users have cried foul over Cyril Ramaphosa’s promise of a public holiday on 15 December.

According to the 2023 calendar, it was revealed that South Africans would “lose” one holiday this year, as 16 December – the Day of Reconciliation – falls on a Saturday.

According to the Public Holiday Act, any official holiday that falls on a Sunday will be automatically carried over to the next day, i.e., Monday.

However, if it falls on a Saturday, no provisions will be made for it.

In this case, many believe Cyril declared 15 December a holiday, in lieu of the day after.
