Netizens were convinced that Cyril Ramaphosa intended to “gloat” to the France President Emmanuel Marcon as seen in a video posted on Instagram recently– this comes after the Springboks became the 2023 World Cup champions.

SA ON CYRIL RAMAPHOSA ‘GLOATING’ ABOUT THE SPRINGBOKS VICTORY

South Africa previously knocked out France in the Rugby World Cup tournament and did so on 15 October on their homeground. The Springboks beat the French boys with just one point as they soared ahead with 29 points. The South African national rugby team recently become the 2023 Rugby World Cup champions after beating the All Blacks on Saturday, 28 October at the Stade de France stadium.

The Boks victory had President Cyril Ramaphosa understatedly “gloating” to the France President Emmanuel Marcon. The South African president decided to educate the French President about a thing or two about the rugby game as seen in an Instagram video.

“That’s how rugby turns out, sometimes you win with one point, sometimes you win with lots of points,” Ramaphosa could be heard saying in the clip.

Netizens were convinced Ramaphosa intended to rub salt in Marconi’s wound with his statement. On Monday evening, the South African President announced a public holiday to celebrate the Springbok’s achievement. And, declared that 15 December will be a public holiday to honour the Boks.

“I know that many of us want to have a holiday now to celebrate. But we should all agree that we should give our matriculants time to focus on their exams and celebrate with them afterwards, otherwise, it will disrupt their ability to focus on their most important journey, which is writing their matriculation exams and this affects close on to a million young people,” EWN quoted Ramaphosa as saying.
