‘Same rubbish’: Malema slams Bheki Cele over AKA murder investigation

Bheki Cele’s vague feedback on the murder investigation of AKA, coupled with no arrests of murder suspects, has seen many South Africans react in anger and frustration. And joining in is EFF leader Julius Malema.

The outspoken politician has slammed the Minister of Police for his latest comments about the entertainer -real name Kiernan Forbes – who was gunned down in Durban in February.

BHEKI CELE SAYS KILLER KNOWN TO AKA

Speaking to Metro FM’s Faith Mangope this week, Bheki Cele revealed new information about the murder investigation.

When asked for an update, Cele claimed that police were still gathering information, which they had received from two eyewitnesses, who were now in police protection.

Asked if AKA was killed by “inkabi” [hitmen], the minister said: “I guess once you are hired, you are inkabi, but some of those people were close associates [of the deceased].”

Faith interjected: “So close associates of AKA were part of orchestrating the murder of AKA according to the intelligence you’ve got so far?

Cele continued: “Let me end there. But that you have said, I think it is enough for the public to understand that we are close [to solving the case]”.

MALEMA CLAPS BACK

On X, Julius Malema clapped back at Bheki Cele’s comments, comparing them to what the Minister of Police had said about Hillary Gardee’s killers.

Gardee was the daughter of EFF Secretary General Godrich Gardee, who was found murdered last year.

Malema tweeted of Cele: “He said the same rubbish about Hillary Gardee, the bastard. He said some people involved included high-ranking leadership of the EFF.”

Many fans of the rapper – known as the “Megacy” – agreed with Malema over Bheki Cele’s comments.
