According to the publication, the money to reward the South African national team will come from the $2,5m (an estimated R46.9m) the team will receive from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for advancing to the semi-finals.

Unfortunately, Bafana Bafana were beaten by the Super Eagles in the semi-finals. But, speaking after the match, Hugo Broos, the coach of the South African national soccer team, still praised his team’s performance, iDiski Times reported.

“There are penalties and you lose the game, you’re not in the final; it’s hard to accept that because we played a very good game today. I’m very, very proud of it [the team]. I’m proud of my players. The disappointment is this, but the proudness is that,” Broos was quoted as saying.

Ivory Coast also beat Nigeria in the Afcon finals on Sunday, 11 February and claimed glory on their home soil at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
