Bafana Bafana were welcomed by hundreds of EFF members at OR Tambo, including leader Julius Malema.

Unlike the Springboks or UFC champion Dricus du Plessis, Bafana Bafana received a very different welcome at OR Tambo. The national soccer team was greeted by a large crowd of members of the EFF party, including leader Julius Malema.

The team returned from their stint at the Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast, where they won a bronze medal for third place.

EFF STORMS OR TAMBO TO WELCOME BAFANA BAFANA

In pics posted on the X platform, hundreds of EFF members were seen awaiting Bafana Bafana’s return at OR Tambo on Wednesday, 14 February.

The team arrived in the early hours of the morning.

But instead of soccer fans wearing their yellow and green kits, the crowd was filled with red shirts and berets, as well as flags with the EFF emblem.

A tweet from the party’s official X account read: “Fighters came out in their numbers to OR Tambo to welcome Bafana Bafana home. The EFF will always support and rally behind the South African football team.”

MOKOENA SHOWS LOVE FOR MALEMA

Meanwhile, Bafana player Teboho Mokoena shared his appreciation for EFF president Julius Malema supporting the national team.

He said: “He’s my favourite president in the country. This is the proudest moment in my life and for my family. Keep on supporting us, and we’ll keep on doing our best”.
