‘I was 16′ : Ngizwe Mchunu’s third wife claims he’ tricked’ her into a relationship

Musician Nqobile “Floda” Mthimkhulu says her relationship with her estranged husband Ngizwe Mchunu was built on a lie.

The R&B and Afrobeats singer was speaking during her sit-down interview with Sizwe Blose on Podcast Affirmation on Friday, 12 January.

NGIZWE MCHUNU’S EX-WIFE, FLODA, SAYS SHE WAS YOUNG WHEN THEY ‘DATED’

Floda, who revealed that she is no longer married to the former Ukhozi FM presenter after approximately 8 years of marriage, said that she was only 16 when they started dating. The former couple have an age gap of about 10 years.

The musician explained that she’d known Mchunu since she was eight years old because he was a family friend. Many years later, when she was 16, he made his move on her. According to Floda, she did not fully understand what was going on at the time.

“My family didn’t know [that he was courting me] and I didn’t tell them because I, too, did not understand what was happening. I just thought we were having conversations.

“I trusted him because I had known him since I was young,” she explained.

Floda said that when their relationship was disclosed to her family, she shut down.

“I didn’t even have the desire to hear his explanation. I just shut down… Even when the relationship continued, I was just like ‘Urg! What’s the point because you lied from the beginning?’. The whole relationship was a lie from the very beginning, so it was just useless for me, ” she said.

‘VERY MESSY’ POLYGAMOUS MARRIAGE

The artist also said that Mchunu did not tell her that she would be getting into a polygamous relationship. The self-proclaimed President of the Amabhinca Nation is also married to Siphelele Nxumalo – his first wife – and Lindiwe Khuzwayo, who is his second wife.

“I’ve never wanted to be a part of that life because I was never told about it… It was kept from me… Knowing myself, I would never have agreed to it,” his estranged wife said.

Floda also described the polygamous marriage she was in as “very messy”. She said she feels as though her youth was stolen from her, however, she believes she is still young and will live her life the way she sees fit.
