K.O opens up on Metro FM Awards: ‘They are not the end goal for me’

‘Sete’ hitmaker K.O opens up on his Metro FM Music Awards absence and congratulates late rapper AKA for winning big at the event.

Ntokozo Mdluli, best known as K.O, has finally opened up on the recent Metro FM Music Awards held over the weekend in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

Despite being the most nominated artist, K.O failed to take any award home.

METRO FM AWARDS HONOURS MUSICIANS

Late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes won big at the awards. He won four awards from six nominations.

In the wake of AKA’s big wins, K.O congratulated the late rapper and made it known that awards are not the end goal for him.

K.O said: “So, I don’t really invest too much in trying to get into campaigning. I make the music and If people love it, they love it, if they don’t, then they don’t. Awards are not the end goal for me.”

K.O was the most nominated artist with seven nominations in different categories but lost out in all seven categories, which included:

  • Artist of the Year
  • Best Collaboration Song
  • Best Hip Hop Artist
  • Best Male Artist
  • Best Music Video
  • Best Viral Challenge
  • Song of the Year

K.O REVEALS REASONS BEHIND AWARDS ABSENCE

K.O also revealed why he skipped the Metro FM Music Awards.

He revealed that he had to seize an international opportunity to spread his wings.

His Europe gigs clashed with the awards leaving him with no option but to snub the event.

However, K.O was puzzled by how Sete failed to hit the mark at the awards.

K.O.’s smash hit Sete made history books a few weeks after its release, reaching 10 million YouTube views a month after its release.

It also joined Master KG and Nomcebo’s smash hit, Jerusalema, as one of South Africa’s songs to receive at least over 300 000 streams per week in six weeks.
